The lake is volcanic in origin, filling an enormous caldera formed in an eruption 84,000 years ago. It is renowned as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, and Aldous Huxley famously wrote of it: "Lake Como, it seems to me, touches on the limit of permissibly picturesque, but Atitlán is Como with additional embellishments of several immense volcanoes. Our Volcanoes

Volcan de Agua

The volcano Agua is one of most visited volcanoes in the world. You find it in the south of La Antigua Guatemala.

At 3,760 metres, Agua volcano towers more than 3,500 metres above the Pacific coastal plain to the south and 2,000 metres above the Guatemalan highlands to the north. It dominates the local landscape except when hidden by cloud cover.
We offer you the possiblity to climb it and those of you who would like to enjoy it more time can spend a night there camping at the top of the volcano.

Volcan de Acatenango

The volcano Acatenango is probably one of the most interesting volcanoes Guatemala offers. Once on the top you can see the activity of the Fuego, which is another very active volcano in Guatemala.

Volcan de Pacaya

With its almost continuous activity and proximity to both Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala, the volcano has been a popular location. The volcano and surrounding area now lie within Pacaya National Park.

The name "Tikal" means "Place of Voices" or "Place of Tongues" in Maya, which may be an ancient name for the city.

Package Cobàn - Semuc Champey - Lanquìn

Cobàn, Semuc Champey and Lanquìn

Semuc Champey is the name of this place in mayan language. It means water under the rocks and it's a natural bridge over the Cahabon river, with emerald-green water born from the rain forest around the place. Another beautiful place to visit is Lanquín, situated in a valley and surrounded by green hills. It's hard to reach the village; the only road that goes there is barely wide enough for one car, goes up and down mountains, and is unpaved. It's worth the effort though, and Lanquín offers enough opportunities for utter relaxation. You can go inner tubing on the river that passes through the town, good fun. The best place for backpackers to stay at is "El Retiro": highly recommended.

About a half hour drive from Lanquín is Semuc Champey, one of the most beautiful nature reserves you'll find in Guatemala, where nature's powers created an impressive powerful roaring river that disappears into an underground cave. On top of the cave all sorts of stone plateaus have formed over time, thus creating a large number of crystal blue cool water pools in which you can swim. At the end of the plateaus is another cave in which the underground river surfaces again. The viewpoint (mirador) gives you an absolutely stunning view of the whole reserve. The locals refer to Semuc Champey as the 8th world wonder, and they have a point. It's one of the most impressive places in Guatemala, and really shouldn't be missed.
