The volcano Acatenango is probably one of the most interesting volcanoes Guatemala offers. Once on the top you can see the activity of the Fuego, which is another very active volcano in Guatemala.
Volcan de Pacaya
The ruins lay on lowland rainforest.
Conspicuous trees at the Tikal park include gigantic ceiba (Ceiba pentandra) the sacred tree of the Maya; tropical cedar (Cedrela odorata), and mahogany (Swietenia).
The name "Tikal" means "Place of Voices" or "Place of Tongues" in Maya, which may be an ancient name for the city.
When you are going to visit Tikal, we recommend to take insect repellent with you and it also necessary to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
The minibus leaves at 4:00 a.m.
It comes back at 6:00 p.m.
Tikal - Ceibal
2 days and one night in Flores
You can take a cruise on the river Rio La Pasion and enjoy the wonderful nature, the birds and one or another crocodile which is diving under your boat.
This is how CEIBAL welcomes you to the national park. Ceibal is one of the most beautiful Mayan cities lost in the bank of the river. The Mayan city could have been a harbour or just a place where they could have unloaded their small ships and also visitors could have been visiting the ancient city in which the Mayan culture showed its pride and wealth to be the owner of this land.
After that you are going to visit Tikal.
One night of accomodation in Flores, surrounded by the breeze of the lake de Peten Itza, is a privilege which you can only offer to persons of excellent taste, persons who know that holidays are to be enjoyed.
The minibus leaves at 4:00 a.m.
You will arrive Antigua Guatemala on the second day at probably 6:00 p.m. in the afternoon.
In Monterrico you will meet backpackers from all around the world.
You can lie in a hammock, eat a veggie burger and drink a huge, inexpensive piña colada.
You can play in the waves (a little too big for some people's taste).
Walking down the street, you'll see the real local flavor, not a shiny facade put on for the tourists.
You can visit the animal sanctuary and release a baby turtle into the wild.
The market at ChichicasChichicastenango is home to what is said to be the most beautiful native market in North and Central America, perhaps in all America, which takes place twice a week. This town has been, since pre-Hispanic times, one of the largest trading centers in the Maya area.tenango on Thursdays and Sundays appears lost in time, drawing villagers from miles around to sell their brightly woven textiles, masks and beautiful ceramics - a sight not to be missed.
About a half hour drive from Lanquín is Semuc Champey, one of the most beautiful nature reserves you'll find in Guatemala, where nature's powers created an impressive powerful roaring river that disappears into an underground cave. On top of the cave all sorts of stone plateaus have formed over time, thus creating a large number of crystal blue cool water pools in which you can swim. At the end of the plateaus is another cave in which the underground river surfaces again. The viewpoint (mirador) gives you an absolutely stunning view of the whole reserve. The locals refer to Semuc Champey as the 8th world wonder, and they have a point. It's one of the most impressive places in Guatemala, and really shouldn't be missed.
